George Vellonakis is a seasoned New York City real estate professional and licensed salesperson with R New York, known for his deep expertise in architecture, landscape architecture, and civic engagement throughout Greenwich Village and across Manhattan.

A native New Yorker, George earned degrees in Architecture and Landscape Architecture from the City College School of Architecture and Environmental Studies, where he also served as an adjunct professor in the Urban Design Studio. Prior to transitioning into real estate, he built a distinguished career as a landscape architect in both the public and private sectors, including senior roles with the New York City Parks Department and the Office of the Mayor.

In these capacities, George designed many iconic New York City parks, including Washington Square Park, City Hall Park, Borough Hall/Cadman Plaza, Dag Hammarskjöld Plaza, Abingdon Square Park, and Holocaust Memorial Park, among more than two dozen others. His work required close collaboration with civic agencies, community stakeholders, and preservation bodies, contributing to public spaces that are now integral to the city’s cultural and urban identity.

George’s background in architecture, landscape architecture, and public planning gives him a sophisticated understanding of how spatial design, exterior environments, and interior layouts influence residential value. He brings this perspective to every client engagement, helping buyers and sellers identify opportunities to enhance a property’s potential through thoughtful renovations, layout improvements, and strategic presentation.

Beyond his professional practice, George has long been active in civic and neighborhood leadership. He served as a public member of Manhattan Community Board No. 2 and was previously affiliated with the Greenwich Village Society for Historic Preservation. He currently holds ongoing leadership and board roles with the 41 Fifth Avenue Owners Corporation, the East 11th Street Block Association, the Lower Fifth Avenue Association, the Abingdon Square Conservancy, and Friends of Dag Hammarskjöld Plaza.

George lives in Greenwich Village, where he continues to work closely with clients, neighbors, and civic partners—bringing a rare blend of design intelligence, local knowledge, and trusted guidance to New York City real estate.
